I've heard a lot about the benefits of applying olive oil directly to the skin. However, I have two olive oil related concerns.
1) A good friend of mine claims that olive oil has actually dried out her skin. Is this possible?
2) Is it safe to apply olive oil in the eye area? I know this skin is very porous. How far can it seep in, and if it does, could the oil could somehow damage my eyes?
Olive oil is a good moisturizer so I don't see how it could dry out skin. And it only penetrates into the upper layers of skin. It doesn't get into the blood stream or into your eyeballs.
Olive oil can't dry out one's skin. You can apply olive oil under your eyes, it helps in fighting dark circles, wrinkles near eyes. Also if you apply a few drops of olive oil mixed with few drops of water on your face at night, you will find noticeable glow on your face.
Hi Willow! Just a forum member here, but I have used extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) for the past 7 years to clean my face. I have oily sensitive skin. The EVOO works like a charm for me. I have read that some people are actually allergic to EVOO as a topical application, so it might be prudent to do a spot test on your skin and make sure you are not one of the ones allergic to it!
I use EVOO not only to clean my face, but I use it mixed in with my body lotion as well. It gives your skin a glow that is quite remarkable.
The Brains say a mixture of olive oil and coconut oil is great for deep conditioning your hair. I found it too heavy for my hair. I use Extra Virgin Coconut Oil for my hair, but that's another post!
I've used EVOO (straight from the bottle) as an eye makeup remover, it works really well! I also have probably gotten some in my eye, but have never felt any stinging or had any adverse effects.
In 7 years of using it on oily sensitive skin I have yet to have it 'plug my pores' or break me out. That is just my personal experience, but nonetheless it does span a 7 year time frame.
Yes that is very important. I was only like 12 than. Well actually what i did was i heard that olive oil is so good for your skin and hair bla bla bla so i put a random amount in my bath and got it all over my skin and hair and my hair was soooo greasy from it no matter how much i washed my hair. I would be nervous to use this as a cleanser because I wouldnt want it to get in my hairline and cause hairline acne which used to be a big problem for me. I wonder how you can tell if you are allergic to tattoo inks... hmm.. I might call my favorite tat shop and ask. I was also curious so I was emailing the only plastic surgeons in Atlantic Canada and they are so boring they don't do anything fun or interesting they didn't even answer all my questions you really have to go to Montreal to get decent work done I think.
