Hello everybody! I was reading an article that casually mentioned that solids don't have a PH. If that is the case then why does skin have one? And while we're at it, does it make a difference weather you buy a fancy beauty product (oh let's say a cream) that matches your skins PH level considering you faces PH level will probably go back to normal by its self?
It's true that solids don't have a pH. But remember your skin is sort of a mixture of liquids and solids. When we talk about the pH of skin we're really talking about it's acid mantle which is sort of the mixture of lipids and moisture that coat the skin.
And you're right about pH balanced products. That's more of a marketing story than a true technical differentiation. Your skin returns to its natural pH within about 10 or 15 minutes after washing.
