I used to have oily hair and my stylist said to "scrub the $hit out of it" with my nails and really dig in and scrub it hard and it actually helped she said it would help circulation but I wonder if I am damaging my cuticle. I have begun to massage the shampoo in with my palms maybe this is a better idea? Sometimes all the shampoo doesn't come out.
Umm..you scrub with the tips of your fingers, not with your nails. There are some good youtube videos about how to shampoo your hair properly. (Admittedly the ones I have seen relate to properly shampooing wavy to curly hair without making it a mass of tangles.)
Massaging shampoo in with your palms could not possibly be getting your scalp as clean as it needs to be and if you are not rinsing throughly that just compounds the problem.
Then it won't hurt a bit to watch the videos about how to shampoo. The main idea of the videos I have seen is to not bunch the length of your hair up when you shampoo as it causes tangles. But the main idea of how to properly shampoo your hair remains the same regardless of whether it is straight, wavy or curly.
You can do a search on youtube for how to shampoo your hair. Some just describe. Some show you how.
