Is philosophy's Purity Made Simple really bad for your skin?
  • I love this blog for helping to set the record straight about beauty products and their performance. I also read Paula Begoun's Beautypedia, which brings me to my question. I have been using philosophy's original Purity Made Simple formula for well over seven years with good results. Paula's review states this product is filled with fragrant oils and other things that will damage and irritate your skin. I have found her reviews to be a bit skewed at times and I'm wondering if this product is truly as "bad" as she makes it out to be.
  • Don't forget Paula Begoun does a lot of claims that aren't science based.

    Two examples:

Sometimes she isn't very different from EWG.
  • As we noted in the article cited above, not everyone has a problem with fragrance. If you do, then you should certainly look for fragrance free alternatives. If you don't, then it's probably not an issue for you. If you've been using this product for 7 years without a problem, then I'd say it's just fine for you.

  • Thanks for the answer, and future derm site link, always looking to stay informed!
