Is there any scientific evidence showing that the edible herbs and plants being used in "natural" and organic products could be harming the planet than helping it? I find it unethical to put edible plants in beauty products which serve no purpose when some people are struggling to put food on the table. I think it is wasteful and chemicals made in in labs are produced in a sterile environment and plants outdoors could be exposed to mold and contaminations. What are your thoughts?
I personally doubt the amount of "edible" materials used in those products is making such a big impact, those extracts are used in minimal amounts in the formulas. I think this question would be more meaningful towards the use of crops for biofuel production.
But so many herbs are being used, maybe in small amounts in one bottle but I think it adds up, and that it is making impact and waste. I agree with you on biofuels. With the personal care market being so huge globally it must be making impact.
