What's the best way to ask a question
  • I'm just wondering what the Beauty Brains community think about the different ways we have set up to ask questions. Is the process easy to understand and use? I'm worried that we might be making it too complicated by having an "Ask the Brains" form, and a Questions section in the Forum, AND individual discussion topic sections where you can ask questions.

Any suggestions from the Community on how you'd like to ask questions?
  • I feel like if you ask a question on the site it would be responded by The Beauty Brains but if I ask a question in the forum I expect it to be answered by the general public.

So for me if I had a question for you guys - I'd ask it on the site not in the forum.
  • I like Lucia's idea of making the forum "for the people, by the people." Any "official" questions for the Brains could then be submitted through our "Ask" button on the Home page. If that's the case, we should take down the "Questions" Category in the forum. Hey Left Brain, what do you think about that idea?
  • I'd go with the KISS principle: Keep It Simple for Sarah!
  • Ok, the Left Brain's gonna kill me but I deleted the "Questions" category in the forum. You should ask a question in the Forum only if you're looking for opinions from your fellow Beauty Brains Community members. If you want an answer from any of the Beauty Brains, you should use the "Ask" button on our Home page. Got it?
  • Got it.
Hey, I'm new here. Got a referral to this site from someone posting on fantasticskincare.com forum.

Can we debate the pros and cons of Arbonne skin care products? I personally don't think they are all they are touted to be.
I'm a former consultant too. I think the products are nice but very over priced and one can find similar products elsewhere.

Any of you ever try Arbonne?
  • Hi Dakota! Welcome to our Forum. As you can see, we don't have many members yet because it's so new. But we get a lot of traffic on our blog so I'm sure the Forum will be buzzing before long.

In the meantime, you can see what other community members have said in our previous Arbonne posts. You can start here:

  • I agree with your decision to put questions on the board and then just have this place be a public forum, although I hope that still means that the brains will drop by and post on the forum to enlighten our discussions with their own input! thanks so much for setting up this forum though! I love all your posts, and so it's great to have a place to discuss them more with other readers.

I'm curious if you are planning to eventually divide all the posts into subcategories (maybe like the categories you have on your blog, except perhaps a little broader). Because in addition to discussing products, it might be nice for us to have a subcategory where we can introduce ourselves or, I dunno, talk about social critiques of the beauty industry, or maybe a section to discuss the most current Beauty Brain posting, etc. Would these all be appropriate topics for the forum too, or is it just strictly a place to discuss products?

    Great work brains! As always!
  • Oh, sorry about my previous comment. I just noticed you already have categories set up!!! My bad!

But I think a category at the top to introduce ourselves would be nice. I'm sure there will be some regulars, and it would be nice to get to know them beyond how they feel about mascaras. It might make it a more friendly enviornment.
  • Excellent ideas Hanna! I'll talk to the other Brains about the "Introduction" category. I agree it would make for a friendlier forum. Just give us a little time to figure all this out. Between posting on the blog and setting up the forum we're a little overwhelmed!
