I recently started using a generic version of Wen - Hair One - with great success. I've heard a number of wonderful success stories about Wen from various blogs and I'm interested in trying it but I've also heard a number of hair loss claims from blogs and youtube which makes me a bit hesitant to try it. Can a product like Wen cause hairloss?
I don't know about falling out but I found Wen and all other sulfate free items made my hair really dry and brittle. It was like a haystack, breaking off by the ton after only one use.
@ Jami - I haven't tried Wen. It is way too expensive for me. But I do use sulfate free shampoos and conditioners with no silicones due to an adverse reaction by my scalp to sulfates.
WEN is just a silicone-free rinse out conditioner. There's no reason that it, or any other conditioner, would cause significant hair loss. It makes no scientific sense what-so-ever. If this kind of product caused hair loss then the 60-70% of all women who condition every time they shampoo would be bald.
Thanks for the feedback RightBrain! I wanted a scientific point of view on this one. I read a lot on-line about hair loss-not sure about their credibility - and I thought that maybe people were suffering an allergic reaction to one of the ingredients. The directions also call for you to combb the product through and I think that perhaps that could be the issue since hair is supposedly most vulnerable when wet.
@Lindy - Mom happened to buy it from HSN years ago along with a bunch of other sulfate free shampoos & conditioners from HSN. I don't know if it was the age as I finally decided to use them just to get them out of the cupboard and some had been in there nearly ten years. (We were only suppose to use them for special occasions, but never did.) All I know is each and every single one I used left me with dry, brittle, easily broken, fly away hair. Granted, my hair was already brittle from my anemia, but those sulfate free things exacerbated the condition.
