According to this article about sunless tanners people aren't buying them as much as they did last year. They say the main problem is that people aren't satisfied with how well they work. What do you think about sunless tanners? Are they good/bad? Do you like how they work?
Personally, I like them the new formulas much better than the old ones but I don't mind lighter skin anyway. It's healthier doncha know.
I still like my St. Tropez sunless tanner! It does just as good of a job as the Mystic Tanner spray that you can have done at tanning salons....but without the hassle of drivng there, getting naked, and those horrible nasty fumes!
I also added to the thread on recent purchases that I really like BeneFit's Jiffy Tan, a bronzer for legs and arms. I used it on my legs and I'm happy with the results, I use my St. Tropez sunless tanner overall when I need a fast tan, PLUS a bronzer on top of that for my legs for events like weddings or other special occasions where I'll be wearing a sleeveless dress and sandals with no stockings. That way, I can keep out of the sun and prevent sun damage but still have that healthy sun-kissed glow!
BTW: I've now had three laser treatments to remove freckling....and I'm not quite where I want to be with results. My doctor will use a different laser on me next time. But he warned me: while this other laser does a great job on bigger spots, it also causes bruising. I'm waiting for "long sleeve, turtleneck weather", as a result.
I just know someone is going to tell me I'm crazy to do this but I really feel so much better about wearing short sleeves and things with lower necklines this summer after having the majority of it removed.
i still get a mystic from time to time... i haven't found an over the counter tanner that works well and doesn't require a lot of extra work... like wearing latex gloves and waiting to put on clothes for 20 minutes, etc. karen's recommendations are usually pretty good, though, so i may try st. tropez :)
i am definitely staying out of the sun and out of the tanning bed, though, so at least i can feel good about that!
saraburson: St. Tropez dries super fast! They say 60 seconds but basically, it's dry by the time you're done applying it. You don't have to worry about streaks the next day, either: The mousse goes on even to start with and even if you see an area that looks a little streaked, it looks perfectly even the next day so it's forgiving. I use it the night before I need some color so I go to bed with it on and I've never had problems with it staining sheets or pajamas. I learned about it from anonymousblonde and Left Brain here on the forum. It really is great stuff!
I've never used a self tanner since I'm not into tanning. However, my legs and my arms are just too different in color, I think I'm going to try it on my legs.
Since it's my first time, I'll try a drugstore brand first. I've been reading up online on prepping and application, so hopefully it'll go well.
