sagging and sunken under-eye skin
  • are there any products that will help with skin sagging?  I do not have lines or wrinkles but my collagen has begun to deplete and my skin is beginning to sag. i would love to have the fullness and tautness back in my cheeks and under-eyes.  thank you
  • You need a product that should stimulate the production of collagen in your skin and leaves you with firm and flawless skin. Lifecell is a product that will solve all your above mentioned problems.
  • Maybe the Brains will answer this one. Lifecell seems to be yet another of those super expensive products that makes a lot of claims...

Simply moisturizing the undereye area will help the way it looks considerably. I use a product from Olay - Olay Regenerist Daily Regenerating Serum, Fragrance Free as a moisturizer in the eye area. It is a serum so it doesn't interfere with makeup for daytime. 1.7 oz. is $20-$23 US, depending on where you buy it. There are peptides in the formula and peptides are supposed to help with skin firmness to an extent. If nothing else, it moisturizes nicely!

I hope the Brains pick up on this thread! Maybe they will have some really good suggestions for you!
  • im going for dermal fillers on my cheeks. Have the brains addressed dermal fillers?
  • @lindygirl, according to me spending some on a good skin cream is much more less painful than the pain of botox injections, skin peels and surgeries.
  • @ zeldabacon, that is true. But a good skin cream does not have to cost a fortune. (Thank goodness!!)  :)
  • botox injections are not painful, not sure about the peels, but i don't think they are painful either
  • @Ally, why do you keep criticizing me in every post?  Botox injections are really painful.
  • I wish there was an easy answer for you.

    • As LindyG pointed out, most super expensive creams and lotions are a waste of money.
    • You could try collagen nutritional supplements; there's some evidence that shows if you ingest a few grams of collagen a day it can boost collagen levels in the skin.
    • You can also see a dermatologist about micro-needling which has been shown to boost collagen levels.
  • zeldabacon, I can assure you I don't have a personal vendetta against you haha :D but your post must trigger something, I don't agree with what you post that's all. if I paid attention to what you have been posting lately maybe i'd be able to answer your query. Also I don't see how botox injections are 'very painful', childbirth is very painful and tooth extraction without anaesthetics is very painful, but not botox injections.
  • THEN GO AHEAD ALLEY..
  • Right Brain. How much is a few grams of collagen? can you be more specific?. I cant find the exact daily dosis, if someone found it please let me know.
    Thanks!
  • I found it in another Brains post: "....daily ingestion of collagen peptide can help control UV-B induced skin damage and photoaging.  In this particular study,
subjects ingested 0.2 g of collagen peptide per kilogram of body mass
per day. That’s approximately 11 grams of collagen per day for a 125
    pound woman..."

But unfortunately its not any type of collagen you find at the pharmacy.......

  • does this make a difference for people who don't wear sunscreen religiously only? people who wear spf everyday are protected from uvb already, so what impact would collagen make then?
  • I believe it could still have some benefit because sunscreens are not 100% effective in protecting against collagen degradation. Also UV rays are not the only cause of collagen breakdown.
  • What about just eating a lot of jelly?. Daily consumption of that amount of collagen may end up being  expensive.
  • Collagen is made up of proteins, so adding proteins rich food and nuts to your diet can help you.
