Oh dear, blackheads. Ive only been able to ever to reduce the size of the little monsters :( but i cannot get rid of them. Even with these expensive products they never seem to want to go. What sorts of ingredients/products should i look out for or try?? :)
Hey for years I tried everything scrubs and different products nothing worked I used to have so many blackheads but now I have none because accutane pushed them all out and it looks lovely. you may want to try a chemical peel or vitamin a cream from a doctor.
I use BHA daily, exfoliate with clarisonic daily, use nose strips twice a week and clay masks and still the buggers don't go away, they look awful right before the nost strip time... there isn't anything you can do if you have quicker than normal shedding of dead skin like I do
Not a Brain, but my suggestion would be an AHA (alpha hydroxy acid) product if your skin is normal to dry or a BHA (beta hydroxy acid) product, as Ally mentioned in her post, if your skin tends to be oily.
I have one blackhead that is really bad. It has resisted every effort to make it be gone. It does seem to be responding to prescription .025% tretinoin cream. The .025% was the prescription strength that most closely corresponded to the OTC product I had already been using. The dermatologist said I should have no issues with my skin tolerating it. (She was right.)
Hi all thanks for your reply's :) i have purchased some soap & glory products. They are peaches and clean deep cleansing milk, fab pore hot cloth cleanser and clear here moisturiser. The peaches and clean has aha in it, i didnt intentionally go for it because of the aha, it was just a little extra when i read the products small bit at the bottom (peaches and clean contains exfoliating alpha hydrxy acids, which can make your skin photosensitive) i got a little confused by bha and aha's and the photosensitive :s hehe. but all three products together are fantastic. i can really see a difference. if i use them day and night that is :) sometimes i get lazy and just use one of their facewipes for blocked pores. i really like the brand and everything smells amazing. but i would love to hear anyones views. i have wanted to try the clarisonic but i can only imagine my face turning red. sometimes sensitive exfoliators can cause some type of irritation so i just keep putting it off but if anyone knows a cheaper alternative please, please let me know? thanks to all who commented i appreciate your time. :) x
There is a brand called Alpha Hydrox that is not pricey and works well. I buy it online at drugstore.com and I am sure there are many other places that sell it as well. A google search indicates it is sold at many national chain drugstores in the US. I also found it on amazon.com.
sounds like OP is from UK, as Soap and Glory is a UK brand. It's OK skincare brand, but I would call it the best, certainly not a specialist skincare brand. If you want to buy something that's sold in boots La Roche-Posay would be a great one, they have BHA and other active ingredients in their skincare and use a very good sunscreen in their products that has high UVA protection (mexoryl). Avene is also very similar to La Roche-Posay but their packaging all looks the same and it's very hard to see what's what, so I don't really buy anything from them, but heard a lot of good things. AHA in the cleansing milk is not going to do much for your skin as it's washed away and doesn't stay on the skin to 'work its magic'. Try Paula's Choice AHA products or better yet Neostrata AHA smoothing lotion, it's 250ml 10% strenght and quite moisturising - very good value for money and I'm on my 4 bottle now :) (available in Europe, but not UK, but can be bough on ebay easily)
