Yes, pheromones I think they're called are responsible for the way perfumes react with our body chemistry and that's why sometimes you'll find a perfume that smells just delicious on someone else smells not as great on you. I've encountered this many times! Btw, My new fave these days is Rihanna Rebelle in the red bottle, I'm loving it and hoping to buy a bottle soon..for now I'm spraying it on every time I go to shoppers lol. It's 59.99 so the price is giving me pause. I'd love to find a good dupe.
