I'm an 8th grade student working on a research project about animal testing in the cosmetic industry. I read your article about a student asking similar questions in an eariler post. The information you presented was very informative and explained alot. If I may, I'd like to ask the following questions.
1. Why do people test cosmetics on animals?
2. What re the disadvantages of animal testing?
3. Do you think animal experimentation is good?
4. What type of animals are tested?
5. Can any animal be tested?
6. Is it safe to test cosmetics on animals? Why or why not?
7. Have animals always been used for cosmetic testing?
8. Ay young or baby animals ever used?
9. Are pregant animals ever tested? Does testing ever affect their offspring?
10. Are animals used for cosmetic testing ever used for other chemical testing?
11. Would you allow your pet to be used for testing?
12. What other test subjects could be used instead of animals?
13. Do you know what the first animal ever tested was?
14. Should cloned animals be used?
15. Should genetically modified animals be used as test subjects?
Thank you so much. My project will help me learn more about cosmetics and how good companies like yours handles such sensitive issues.

Dear Iamastudent: We're really excited that you've chosen a cosmetic science question as the topic for your research project! Unfortunately, we're not experts in some of the areas that you need answers. (For example, we don't know the details of testing on pregnant animals and we don't know the latest on using cloned or genetically modified animals.) The bad news is that means you'll have to do more work and research the companies that do this kind of testing to get definitive answers.
