Eco friendly products?
  • Are there any eco friendly beauty products that exist? And I guess by eco friendly I mean biodegradablity, packaging, production, and farming. I tried to do a google search on this and I got a ton of fear mongering about how all man made products are going to kill me. (I roll my eyes when I see "chemical free" claims) I wasn't able to find the info that I was looking for.

So, do eco friendly beauty products exist or is it pointless to look for such things? Is there an eco friendly company out there or is it all just fraud? I don't care if the materials are natural or synthetic.

  • This is a great question although it's tough to give a simple answer. I'll try and put my thoughts together and put something up on the blog in the next couple of days.
  • using oils would be the most eco friendly beauty products I can think of, rose water, witch hazel, milk of magnesia maybe? oils can be used for everything - cleansing, toning, moisturising, healing, anti acne, scar fading... why look for packaged products if there's an alternative?
  • Interesting point about the oils but even those get complicated. What about palm oil? Is it okay or is it a problem because it strips the rain forests? This whole green/natural topic is fraught with issues like these.
  • thats a tricky question i am not sure eco friendly products exist beyond the marketing one label that i do believe in is fair trade it has clear standards to follow and the workers in the developing world get a fair wage which is very ethical and important to me.
