Best Moisturizing Ingredients for Dry Skin
  • Is there a way to to tell by reading the ingredient list if one moisturizer will likely hydrate more than another?  What about diminishing or 'plumping up' lines? For example,

    • Olay Regenerist Micro-sculpting cream's ingredient list: Water, Glycerin, Isohexadecane, Niacinamide, Isopropyl Isostearate, Alluminum Starch Octenylsuccinate, Nylon-12, Dimethicone, Panthenol, Tocopheryl Acetate, Sodium Hyalironate, Palmitoyl Pentapeptide-4, etc.
    • L'Oreal Age Perfect's ingredient list: Water, Cyclohexasiloxane, Glycerin, Paraffinum, Mineral Oil, Octydodecanol, Myristyl Myristate, Shea Butter, Stearic Acid, Palmitic Acid, Ammonium Polyacryloydimethyl Taurate, PEG 100 Stearate, Beeswax, Glyceryl Stearate, Ethylhexl Palmitate, Rosa Canna Fruit Oil, Capryloyl Salicylic Acid, and further down on the list, Hydrolyzed Soy Protein, etc.
The Olay moisturizer has peptides and antioxidants, vitamins and appears to be a well made moisturizer.  L'Oreal - I'm not so sure about although with shea butter and mineral oil, it may actually hydrate more effectively.

    Thanks -

  • Sorry, I can't answer your question,  but I can tell you that I have read that ceramides are a great ingredient for moisturizing. I don't know if they diminish lines. The drugstore line Cerave uses ceramides. I have used three of their products and they are excellent moisturizers for my face and hands. They're also fragrance-free, which I particularly like.

  • I personally like hyaluronic acid creams or lipid creams. I use Hada Labo hyaluronic acid cream http://www.amazon.com/Rohto-Hadalabo-Gokujyn-Hyaluronic-Cream/dp/B000FQ4ZX2 that's my to go to when skin is getting drier and used it for almost 3 years now. If my temples are very dry like i'm getting light eczema then I use very moisturising and nourishing La Roche-Posay Nutritic lipid cream. That cures eczema, dry patches or dry nose when you have a cold in a day or two.
