Sodium Hydroxide

Why is "sodium hydroxide" in my Cetaphil moisturizing cream for my face?! I know it's highly dangerous and used in relaxers but why on earth is it in a face cream?!?!?!

I may have just found the answer. Is it to adjust pH? If so, isn't there a less dangerous chemical that could be used, or is there such a small amount that it really isn't that dangerous?

As a regular reader of the beauty brains since this summer that passed I can assure you it is not in dangerous quantities. The dose makes the poison and there are regulations of how much can go into a beauty product before its a risk. Trust me you will be fine.
