Silicone Weights
  • I know there are different weights for silicones, and wonder what difference it makes in products, for instance what's better for hair vs. skin, and what difference do the different weights make?

I found the article about Dimethicone Copolyol not weighing hair down, and a hefty article about new silicones here: http://www.cosmeticsandtoiletries.com/formulating/category/antiaging/34408409.html?page=1

I'm hoping there's a simpler answer that can help sort out the basics.  Anything about clues for reading labels would be a nice bonus too, for instance I always remember "ampho" generally means amphoteric, etc.
  • Kewl new silicones for us fine haired folks.
  • Are they especially good for fine hair (me too, it's a curse)?

The title says antiaging (a term I just don't like - it's too hard to pin down or define, philosophical objections aside), but yeah, 5 pages about silicones  : )  I'll print it out (someone stole my laptop) but it looks kinda past my level for now, good to study.
  • This link doesn't specifically address your question around the weights of silicones, but it does provide some useful information: http://thebeautybrains.com/2010/06/17/are-you-silicone-savvy/
  • Kewl (echo contagion!) this is even better  : )  So much more *backflips*
