triclocarban vs triscolan-the difference?
  • I bought a deordant with triclocarban in it and I reconized the triclo part to be similar to triscolan so I thought it must be similar so I looked it up and this chemical does the same thing but what is the difference and why are mentioned like they are the same thing by treehugging blogs?
  • They are different molecules that have similar functionality. The "tree hugging blogs," as you put it, are concerned that they could foster antibiotic strains of bacteria. There is also some concern they could be hormone disrupters.
  • Is that concern unfounded? It seems people have suspected this for so long and still no one knows.
  • I wouldn't say unfounded but the data looks murky to say the least.
  • It will be interesting to see developments in the data but to jump to such an extreme conclusion and scare the crap out of people seems a bit much. No lie I was buying antibacterial body wash and a woman with organix in her hand gave me a scary look. I think she thought I'm trying to personally create a strain of antibiotic resistant bacteria.
