Hi everyone;
For those who like to have their eyebrows shaped, do you prefer waxing, tweezing, shaving or threading? How do you prep your eyebrow area before treatment? Personally, I'd like to get mine waxed, but I usually end up tweezing.
I tweeze because I'm a huge baby and can't deal with the pain of waxing. I had it done once ... OUCH! I get my chin and upperlip waxed with no problem so go figure.
I tweeze and have always tweezed. I often get complimented on my eyebrows, which I always think is weird. People always ask if I wax, but I'm just vigilent with the tweezers. However, I have bangs now, which means I can be waaaaaaay more lax about tweezing. I've only waxed anything once: I did a Brazilian wax... probably won't do that ever again.
wax and tweeze.. i do prefer threading though, but the beauty salon that i go to only waxes.. i used to shave, using those small face razors because it was just sooo much faster.. i DO like having a pro shape the eyebrows for me first via waxing/threading..
and brazilian waxes aren't too bad.. i've read that you can take an advil prior to getting your wax to lessen the pain.. for some odd reason, i don't mind the ripping as much as i mind the hot wax..
WAX! I think tweezing hurts too much! Plus, I make my living doing waxing, so I practice what I preach!
TG, you do not have to take Advil before waxing. Actually, I would not recommend that to my clients for before.... maybe afterward. I have clients who bring in beer or wine. I also sometimes have a "Wax and Whine" oops, "Wine" day!
There are some waxes that hurt less. My clients prefer the creamy type. I have a squeeze ball for everyone to hold while waxing. I did a brazilian yesterday and the client was texting a friend. It helped her through it.
I do my own brazilians. I think what some call pain is not pain at all. It actually feels more like a burn or a VERY large band-aid being taken off. The burn sensation only lasts a few seconds and I do something that makes the brain think the skin is not burning.
My brows no longer hurt like it did years ago. My upper lip was the worst. That no longer is hard for me to do. And now... I have a few of those dreaded long chin hairs........ lol
If anyone wants to have a good wax experience, give me a ring. I am good at it!
buenos dias,
Lynnette
I like the way my eyebrows look after being waxed but I just find it so hard to let strays grow in between appointments. I know initially you just have to put up with lots of strays for a while until a lot of the hairs are on the same growth cycle but I just can't bear looking in the magnifying mirror when I apply makeup and then at the stray eyebrow hair mess that is going on as I wait for that to happen. Plus, I think I like tweezing on some weird level.
I've never had threading done before; I've only watched clips about it on Youtube.
Here's what I'm wondering about: I've heard that threading is kinder on mature skin than waxing because it doesn't stretch or pull at the skin. Can anyone confirm that?
Waxing and tweezing when I can't stand the sight of my own bushy eyebrows. I actually have an appointment to have my eyes waxed at Macy's at the Benefit counter in October...however I thik Imay need to cancel...think I have to be in Pittsburgh that day...
Lynnette: Wax and Wine day? Sounds fun and you are pretty close to me.....*thinking*
