I have never used any facial cleansing cloths & would like to know about Dove/Olay cleansing cloths for sensitive skin.
Does anybody know if they are more gentle or clean better than a Cetaphil Gentle cleanser? How are the Olay/Dove Foaming cleansers for Sensitive skin?
I have been using Cetaphil Daily Facial cleanser for oily skin but it dried my face to death. Then I switched to Cetaphil Gentle cleanser but it leaves a film on my face.
I have coimbination skin & cant use anything with fragrance or harsh ingredients.
I wonder if cleansing cloths were so great, companies that specialize in sensitive skin care (Cetaphil, Cerave, Vanicream) would have introduced one.
Please let me know if the cloths are worth a shot.
You already know I like the Dove ones. =) A lot (probably not all, I didn't check the sensitive skin ones) of the Olay ones contain salicylic acid. Its in such small amounts that it probably won't matter, unless you've had trouble with it in the past. I think they're using it as an exfoliate aid. They both take off makeup well. Travel great. I've tried both of them, liked both of them, but liked Dove more. I think it comes down to personal preference. Neither dried out my temperamental skin. The cloths are ridiculously huge (by both companies) so I tear the down to smaller sizes so I'm not constantly buying them. A lot of people have had luck with the basic Dove beauty bar, too, with really sensitive skin.
The cloths also exfoliate (gently) just because its a cloth. This may be part of the reason that some of the more traditionally gentle cleansers don't go this route. Only those few companies have jumped on the cleansing cloth band wagon, to my knowledge. Every company seems to have its "thing," and the cloths are theirs.
Checking the ingredients and comparing them is the best way to figure out which one is gentler. Also, take into consideration YOUR skin. If Cetaphil dries you out really bad, it wouldn't hurt to try something else. With it leaving a film on your face...Could it be moisturizers they've added to the formula? I've run in to this on occasion.

Thank You for the response. Unfortunately, Dove has stopped producing the Sensitive Skin Cleansing Cloths & I read some bad reviews on Olay Cloths on drugstore.
Well that stinks. Hmmm. I could maybe try their normal cloths if you're still interested. I know that they sell little packages of them in the travel size section at our Target. It does have a very light fragrance...just typical Dove, not strong at all. I haven't looked at face washes in a while, but you'll find something eventually! Good Luck!
I have used the Olay Facial cloths and find them too ABRASIVE for my sensitive skin. However I have used their liquid cleansers with good resuts.
I had to switch from the Cetaphil Gentle to the Daily because the Gentle wasn't getting all my makeup off. I DO still use a toner to remove any trace residue.
Comodyne makes makeup remover facial clothes that were quite soft and gentle...not abrasive...but I prefer a foamy cleanser. You can get them at Trader Joe's.
Good luck!
