I am 34. my hair is about 80% gray. I am having troubles with hair dye sticking to my hair. I am in a very conservative profession. I know that going all gray will negatively affect my career. While I am looking for a more laid-back job, I also want to do well in what I am doing now. is there any affordable, easy, simple do-it-yourself hair color, which is much better for gray hair coverage? is there something specific I need to look for when I am buying hair color? I have tried many hair colors from different companies (have been going gray since my teens). I am not impressed with the coverage of any of them. would appreciate your advice, Lien
I like Feria hair color by L'Oreal. When I'm mixing the color, I add a squirt of shampoo to it. I heard a stylist on TV say it helped the color to penetrate the gray. It does seem to help, and it doesn't hurt, so I've been doing it for years.
I'm no expert, but you should consider getting a different developer (the white stuff) than the one that comes in the box at the store. If you go to Sally's (or somewhere similar) you can buy all of that stuff separately. You're most likely needing something stronger than what they sell normally at the drugstore. Unfortunately I can't help you any more than that, my hair takes dye well. Maybe they could help you there, but I'd still recommend looking into the type and strength of the developer you need before you go.
