Handmade soap can be made from a variety of ingredients, each with its own moisturizing and and other beneficial properties. I am wondering how the saponification process affects these properties. Specifically, if you have an ingredient, like emu oil, which has healing properties, does it retain those properties when it turns to soap? Also, do allergenic properties (say, in a nut-based oil) carry over into the finished product? Many thanks for your help!
