Is Salicylic Acid in hair care products safe for your hair?
  • This is my first question ever to the Beauty Brains! I love this forum and thank you for all the wonderful knowledge you provide!
I see Salicylic Acid as an ingredient in both shampoos and conditioners (both Goldwell and Redken-All Soft products have it in them-Goldwell Kerasilk conditioner and I think it is in Redken All Soft shampoo or All Soft Conditioners or both of the Redken products).
Wouldn't this be damaging to the hairstrands-especially bleached hairstrands? Why is it used in hair care when I thought it was for sloughing off dead skin cells.
I love my Redken products, but don't want to be using anything that would damage the hair.
    Thank you for any info!
