Vitamin E - Applying from the capsule
  • I read on Paula's Website that Vitamin E is the most potent topical antioxidant. She also said that a facial moisturizer should always have an antioxidant otherwise the moisturizer will make the skin worse over time.

My question is that since some of my favourite facial moisturizers like Complex 15 / DML Lotion etc do not have tocopherol acetate, can I cut open a capsule of Vitamin E and ad it to my moisturizer? Would there be anything harmful in the capsule ?
  • Me AGAIN, mo.  I did a quick search on this and it would appear that the application of Vitamin E topically is proven effective for scars or wounds...doesn't mention wrinkles.  I don't know if mixing it with your moisturizer would be an inexpensive way to boost its effectiveness.  Sounds OK but then I'm not a scientist.  The problem I would see is that the amount in the capsule would probably be too much for one application.  Were you thinking of just mixing a capsule amount into your moisturizer and mixing it?
As to the HARM...I would have to defer to one of the BBs.
  • a lot of people are already doing this, and they claim that it works for them. although i'm not sure if the oil from the vitamin e capsule can be readily absorbed by the skin. actually, i tried this before, but it's really messy on the pillows since i was applying it before i sleep. and my face is oily enough. so i didn't use it long enough to see if there are good results. but i didn't experience any side effects either. and yes, i agree that one capsule has too much for a single application. what i did was put the rest on my scalp. vitamin e is good for the scalp, too.
