My lips have been chapped and dry - which causes me to do the worst thing for them: I unconsciously bite at them when they are chapped.
I have tried several lip balms and is it possible that they can cause my lips to dry out more than moisturize them? I've tried these: Nivea Moisture and Burt's Bee's balm in a tin. Both drying.
Can you help me find one that is truly moisturizing? Thank you!
The best ones I've found have been just plain old Chapsticks. Lots of the others seem to work less well, stick less well, or do actually seem to make them feel drier when they wear off. Chapstick is just old-fashioned goo. Works great, last the longest out of the various ones I've tried.
I haven't used Nivea Moisture, but I found the Burt's Bees to be drying and irritating. I attribute it to the peppermint oil in the formula.
When my lips are especially chapped, I find that old fashioned petroleum jelly left on overnight works well for me. Another one I really like is Lypsyl Extra Sensitive. The C.O Bigelow My Favorite Lip Balm is good too.

I have been using one of the Nivea products and like it pretty well. Carmax is always good (especially for cold sores) though the pot kind of lip balm is not particularly higienic.
