Face sunscreen/body sunscreen - is there a difference?
  • I decided to buy Clinique sun protection (really like the lack of smell and the trasperent texture), but they have two creams to offer: one for the face and one for body. I usually use the body sunscreen on my face, but was wondering if there's any difference? Feels like another marketing hype to get us to buy two products instead of just one.
  • Most sunscreens for the face are much less greasy than products for the body. Clinique Super-City Sunblock (I think that's what it's called) is oil-free and is very nice. I use that or the Neutrogena dry-touch every day. You can use either of them as a primer and your makeup won't slide off your face. Sunscreens really irritate my eyes and I end up with red, watery, irritated eyes if I sweat so it's worth it for me to spend more on a good, non-greasy product.  There's a Coppertone sunscreen for the body that's "sweatproof" (it's not really sweatproof but it is sweat resistant) that I put on my face if I'm going to exercise but it's much too heavy to use under makeup, which is a pity because it's much, much cheaper.
  • Super City Block refers to the spf 40 version, whereas city block sheer refers to the spf 25. The spf 40 uses a mix of organic and inorganic filters: oxtinoxate, zinc oxide, titanium dioxide and octyl salicylate. the spf 25 is all inorganic filters (zinc oxide 7.5 %and titanium dioxide 6.9%). Outside the US, titanium dioxide is used as the only filter on the spf 25 (titanium dioxide 8.85%) because of EU regulation prohibiting the use of micronized zinc oxde as a UV filter
