Is there a benefit to Konjac sponges over other ways to exfoliate your face?

edited October 2014 in Ask the Beauty Brains
I've been hearing a lot lately about konjac sponges like this one, which are apparently pretty trendy in Korea at the moment, and I'm wondering if it actually provides any real added benefit over just using a washcloth. Also, for the versions that include ingredients like charcoal and clay, would there be any benefit from those ingredients if you just rub them on your face for a second and rinse them off? It seems like a fun little novelty, but maybe not for the price if they're not any more effective than anything else and you're meant to throw them out after three months.

Thanks in advance.
