Octisalate in sunscreens

Why do most moisturizers with sunscreen contain this ingredient? I seem to have a reaction to it and it's hard to find good broad spectrum products without it.

  • Octisalate, also known as Octyl salicylate, is one of the approved active ingredients used in sunscreens. It absorbs UV radiation to protect you from the sun.
