Given the current economic situation and a diva's need to still stay beautiful, do the Beauty Brains believe there is that much difference in Suave hair products
and the high end brand they say they are like?
The truth is that the Suave Professionals line is a pretty good knock-off of the original product. It is not difficult for any company to make a good shampoo or conditioner. It's also not too hard to copy a competitor.
Rest assured, from a performance standpoint, you will probably not be able to tell a difference (except for the fragrance) whether you use Suave Humectant or Nexxus Therappe shampoo.
If it makes you feel better, you could save your empty bottle of Nexxus and re-fill it with Suave.
YAY for Suave...though even they have RAISED their prices...I find their products just fine though some of the skin lotions have a thinner consistency that say...Vaseline Intesive Care...or any of the pricier boutique brands.
My only beef...and it is isn't with the brand...it is with TARGET...they used to carry a wide selection of Suave products...now they seem to have eliminated the hair treatment products so that you have to go elsewhere to find them which is a hassle if you have a coupon that requires you to buy TWO Suave products.
Target seems to be eliminating anything that isn't a top seller. They've dropped many of the less popular Aveeno products too. I can understand that they want to maximize their profits per running foot of shelf space but it seems like it could backfire ultimately. Most people prefer one-stop shopping and stores are so competive these days that you can probably find another store that carries all the products that you like for about the price.
I do like their professionals line. Although last time I had my hair done, my stylist asked me what I was using and instead of lying and saying Pantene(lie I usually do) I told him Suave and the look I got was enough to make me use the conditioner for shaving and immediately purchase their Redken line. Which brings me to this question. Why am I paying $13 a bottle for conditioner and $11 for shampoo and the conditioner is about 2 oz. smaller than the shampoo?? I will NEVER purchase from the salon again. Sorry to digress...I think it's back to Suave or Pantene
Purple Rules, I too have noticed it is harder to find some Suave products. I have been searching for a specific one without luck. I'm starting to think I might be forced to order it online.....argh
Stores like Target are trying to kick out the lower end products that bring in less profit. They would prefer the higher end products that don't sell as much but bring in more money. This is why VO5, White Rain also have problems at Target.
I finally found what I was looking for at a walmart that was farther away than I'd like. It took me 4 walmarts/targets to find it! All that just for Suave.
Grocery stores and drug stores are pushing out brand name products are replacing them with their own generic versions also because of the higher profit margins, although I don't think Target has their own lines yet. Sometimes their own version is fine and everyone is happy because they're cheaper but the store still makes more money per unit. Sometimes they're not and you have to go someplace else. ShopRite brand green olives are completely inedible; I can't believe anyone buys more than one jar but it's the only brand of green olives they carry. Very annoying but I digress. Anyway, I now shop at Walmart for H&B products and laundry products because they're the only store in the area that carries the products I like. I know Walmart has a lot of haters out there but the one by me is well run (I realize that not all of them are), they have what I want and the prices are good. There's a reason that they're so profitable.
Guiness, I hope you stocked up.
