Containing DIY Tea Tree Oil... What materials?
  • Hi to all!

I have always been interested in incorporating tea tree oil into the products that I use. However, there seem to be a dearth of products that contain 5% tea tree oil. Therefore, the only other alternative would be to dilute 100% pure tea tree oil to a lower concentration.

Basic calculations aside, I would like to ask what kind of materials should I use to contain my diluted tea tree oil concoction in? I understand that the best materials are opaque ceramics/glass containers, but what about synthetic materials such as polyethylene terephthalate (PET), polypropylene and polystyrene etc.?

Because tea tree oil can potentially dissolve some materials, the last thing I would want is applying trace amount of "plastic" monomers on my face.

    Thanks!
