I've been shaving and waxing since I was 15 and as a result I have dark brown spots in my entire bikini area. After 7 sessions of laser hair removal with a dermatologist I gave up since the money invested was getting me little results. Now I only wax with cold wax as to prevent ingrown hairs in my legs and thighs and in my bikini area I epilate. This has helped to reduce further damage but the brown spots are still there. Any advice?
I believe you basically are getting a low grade scarring from the shaving and waxing. There are alot of products out there to lighten these types of areas.I use a lotion by pharmagel that lightens dark spots. It takes a while like 6 weeks or so to see the change but I have scarring on my face from a nasty staph infection I had several years ago and I use it on the dark spots and it has lightened them considerably. Before waxing any area try to get the area warm and massage in a good oil free lotion to soften the skin area and get the hair follicles to open up so the hair will release easier out of the shaft.Be careful when epilating also because you can actually form a thin callous type skin to form and darken and it will feel leathery. This can lead to worse ingrown hair problems and more scarring etc.
I hate to even bring this up and i dont want you to be offended.....alot of women have this problem too and sometimes it can actually be a fungal infection causing a thick dark layer of leathery skin to form as well.Fungus grows in dark warm areas like a bikini line and waxing and opening pores up can cause you to be suseptible to infections and you may want to try something made for jock itch.
Im just throwing ideas out there as I havent been down in your business :P
It cant hurt to try it out for a week and if it helps then HOORAY!
I used to work in a beauty salon, for about 4 years before opening my own, i remember i once got a client who came for an under arm wax and when she was back 4 weeks later, she had 2 round light brown patches under her arms. this was the first time it had ever happened, we den realised that we got a new type of wax and her skin coudlnt take it.. sh ewas d only client who had a reaction to it, so we never used it on her again.. i then used the other type for sensative skin, and she never had the problem again. . so if this happened to u , speak to your therapist ,
it could be such a simple reason.
..............
if not try the jock itch alternative ;p
