Acne.org cleanser & Moisturizer
  • Has anybody tried the Acne.org Cleanser & Moisturizer? The ingredients are pretty straight forward & its fragrance/color free.
He explains on the website that he had no choice but to create these as there are no good alternatives available.
  • I'll admit that I haven't tried the products.  I did however, look at the ingredients.  There is nothing special about these formula (although they will probably work fine).
The idea that there were no good alternatives is just false.  There are plenty of acne products that will work just as well as these.
Acne.org is an excellent example of a successful Internet marketing company.  They can be extremely focused on their keywords and rank really high for a single topic.  That doesn't mean they know more about solving the problem however.
Anyone can get an anti-acne product made.  You just have to go to a good contract manufacturer and ask them to make you a product.  They have chemists and formulators on staff who can make you exactly what you describe.  They will even work with you to make it feel exactly the way you want.  However, your formulas are not going to be superior to things you can get in the store for less money.  They may have more interesting packaging and you may like the fact that you are supporting a small guy (versus a big corporation).  But as far as working better...they won't.
Fortunately, they will probably work just as well.
Brands to consider include Neutrogena, Clean & Clear, Clearisil, Olay, St. Ives, etc.
In defense of Acne.org.  People like to be part of something.  Being a "member" of Acne.org can make people feel better about themselves and that's not necessarily a bad thing.  It's understandable that they would create their own line of products.  If you like who they are and what they stand for, try the products.  (Be careful not to get roped into a "subscription".)  But know that you could probably save money and get a product that works just as well at your local grocery store.
