Baking Soda "Shampoo"
  • I've been reading a lot about people who use a mixture of baking soda and water as a shampoo. Although I've read a lot of people who like or dislike this method, I haven't found anywhere that could explain how or why it works (if it works at all). I like the idea of the economical and ecological benefits this would have, but I'm more interested in using a product that keeps me clean and healthy. Does baking soda have the properties to make it an effective shampoo?
  • i can't imagine how- though it is an interesting thought. It may be somewhat effective as a dry shampoo in absorbing some oils, but it isn't something I'd do. I heard that adding baking soda to your shampoo will help get rid of any product "residue" on your hair, but I tried it and it made my hair feel horrible. I won't do it again. Mixing baking soda with your face cleanser makes a wonderful exfoliant, but it feels awful on your hair.
  • I've used it and if feels clean and soft.
  • How much baking soda do you use?
  • 1tabelspoon baking soda to a cup of water
