Would natural oils for hair would have to go through the same testing as formulated products?

I am planning to sell unrefined natural oils as part of my
hair/body care range. Just wanted to find out if I'd have to go through the
same testing as other personal care products? Since oils are not formulations I
thought regulations could be a bit less rigid?

Would be very happy to hear your thoughts.

Thank you!

  • No, Just the same, sometimes more.  You need to do enough testing to be able to ensure that the product is safe and suitable for use through out the products shelf-life.
  • Exactly.  You have to prove your products are safe.  Just because something is "natural" does not mean it's automatically safe.  In fact, many of the most dangerous substances known are natural.
