Foundation oxidizing?

Hey Beauty Brains!
I have noticed when I put my liquid foundation on (Yves Saint Laurent Fuision Ink Foundation SPF18) at the beginning of the day it matches my skin tone perfectly; however, by the end of the day it looks a little orange or darker.  Does that mean my foundation is oxidizing?  Are certain ingredients in foundations likely to cause this?  Do all foundations do this?

  • Hmmm. Not sure. The pigments typically used in foundations are iron oxides and they don't oxidize. Some pigments (like red 27) shift color with pH so that could conceivably cause a change during the day. It could also be that oily skin is darkening the pigments. Has anyone else out there had this problem?
