Lipgloss recommendations
  • I'm looking for some help in my quest to find the perfect lipgloss. I always start out excited about a new purchase, but then get let down by the excessive stickiness factor. I've found a few I like to wear, but I'm always on the look out for new ones to try. What are your favorite lipglosses? How about lip products in general?

    My faves:
Stila Lipglaze (except i always choke a little on the price)
Jane Liquid lipcolor (which I haven't been able to find in a very long time and I'm out!!)
Blistex Complete Moisture in the blue tube (a must at bedtime)
  • First, I like to apply Lipfinity by Max Factor for color and its stay power. Then, I apply Tutti Dolci Creme Brulee gloss over that. It tastes and smells great and also stays put! Unfortunately, the whole line has been discontinued so once I use up my last few tubes, I will be looking for a replacement product. so I'm interested in other people's responses, too.

I must confess that I'm addicted to Blistex. I mean really addicted. Anyone else feel that way?I have tubes everywhere and go nuts if I don't have at least a smidgen on the corners of my lips. It's a "must" for me at bedtime, too. I read an article in the newspaper on the phenomenon and it that said people really can be psychologically addicted to the stuff. Weird!
  • They're all sticky; I think you just have to expect that. Chanel glossimers are my favorite -- they're sheer but heavily pigmented so you see the color, they last longer than most glosses (but still not as long as lipstick) and I like the applicators. The Stila glazes are really nice but i HATE the applicator. Life is too short to sit around clicking and waiting for your gloss.
  • I have posted this recommendation on another thread but I like Burt's Bees Lip Shimmers...they are not greasy. Do they last very long...not really but they are nice while they last!
  • I just got some Maybelline lip gloss that I really love. It's called Shiny*licious #65 Cinnamon Apple. It goes on a very sheer red, has a very subtle cinnamon sweet flavor/scent, and isn't sticky.
I'm a horrible lip gloss/lipstick/lip balm addict, it's like my crack.
The Maybelline is officially on my list of favorites, these are my others:
Anna Sui lipgloss #303. It is a little sticky, but the perfect pink-gold color, rose scent, and gorgeous packaging make up for it, in my eyes. Sephora's doesn't seem to carry Anna Sui anymore, so I guess I'll have to go to one of her stores to get it.
Stilla lip glaze in lychee. Smells and tastes yummy, not too sticky. Unfortunately, it was a seasonal color so I can't find it anymore.
Smashbox in Catwalk. It's a very bright pink that looks intimidating but goes on sheer in a pretty way.
  • Thanks, MoxieHart and PurpleRules. I'm writing down your suggestions!
  • Any other old fogies like me remember Kissing Potion from the 70's? I used the Bubble Gum. I don't know any self-respecting girl who didn't have a bottle on them. I think they strill make it now.

I've been been putting something on my lips for the last 25 years at night. Makes a big difference, especially in the dry winter air. For the last 15 I've been using this awesome lip balm I get at Trader Joe's. It's called Lip Healer by Essence of Nature. It's non-petroleum, and has a pleasant lemon-y flavor and scent. Not strong. And it lasted for hours...

I know mint is used in EVERYTHING these days, but I do not like it at all. Actually, I do like it in Asian foods. But it's *supposed* to be there. So when TJ's changed their lip balm I was pissed. I did try the sludge they try to pass off as a lip balm because I was all out. YUCK! Tasted horrible, didn't help my lips, and it BURNED. I actually called the TJ corporate office as well as talked ot the local store manager. They both said that people were annoyed like me they changed. Did they bring it back? Of course not.

Anyway, if you can find this Lip Healer in a Trader Joe's near you try it. It comes in 3-packs for about 4.50. A definite deal. They also sell it online: http://www.cvc4health.com/products/?category_id=127&mode=details

I also found this which I thought ya'll might get a chuckle out of:

  • My old boss is very organic and green and basically shops at Whole Foods or Wild Oats before it was bought out in our area. And she picked up this lip balm that I just had to have. I never used theirs, but I always wanted to. So I checked out Whole Foods and to my dismay it was not sold there, so I managed to find the Wild Oats in Princeton and alas there it was and there was only one tube left...so I snatched it up and $13.00 later I had my lip balm. :jumping:

It's called LoveYour Lips by MyChelle. The flavor is Guave Orange Vanilla....oh so yummy. Now it is huge--5oz...so don't put it in your purse or carry-on if you are traveling with it. You never know. A girlfriend had her less than required 3oz lip gloss tossed when she went to Vegas to get married. It was sooo expensive too. I felt bad for her. Meanwhile I had 3 tubes in my purse and none of them thank goodness was taken from me...all hell would have broken loose in that airport. It was a great wedding though.

  • I love the Victoria Secret Very Sexy glosses. They go on a little sticky, but in minute or two they're pretty soft.
  • I love the Victoria Secret Very Sexy glosses. They go on a little sticky, but in minute or two they're pretty soft.
I have 3 of those. One in this bold pink that's pink lemonade flavored, one light ballet slipper pink whose flavor I can't remember, I think it's frosting, and a clear vanilla flavor I got as a sample. I like them a lot.
  • I like the VS lip glosses too. I used to work there a few years back and one of the perks was free stuff. So I got a few lip glosses.
  • I made a mistake, my VS lipglosses aren't from the Very Sexy line, they're from the Beauty Rush line.
  • I recently tried Sally Hansen Smile Brightening Lip Treatment. Does it REALLY make your teeth look a bit whiter...I would have to say yes but that could just be because they have REALLY REALLY nice colors that probably do in contrast reduce the contrast between your lips and less than white teeth.

I am using Luminous and it is a great shade. Unfortunately like most gloss it doesn't stay around long enough.
  • I picked up a Max Factor Maxalicious Glitz in this berry color. It goes on smooth, and not sticky or too sliperry on my lips. I don't know if it's because the color is dark so it stains my lips, but the color stays quite long.

Kristen from Beauty Addict suggested the Glaze but they didn't have it at my local CVS when I went.
  • I had to back off the blistex, i was getting addicted and it was getting out of hand. I found myself grieving an empty tube and decided I had to break the chain.

As far as my favorite glosses, I like Chanel's Glossimer as well as The Balm. (I have their Plump my Pucker in Squeeze my Lemons and Coco my Coconuts only because the names made me giggle and I have a thing for lemon and coconut, not for any plumping...um action? plumpification?)

For regular balm I am using up a tube of the Chapstick Naturals a friend gave me when I had a bad reaction to some LipGlass. That was a sad day. When I have short nails, I like the Rachel Perry lip lover balm in banana coconut because it reminds me of my mom. I don't really have an all time favorite in lip balms though, sorry.

I am going to have to try that MyChelle balm now that I have looked at the flavors.
  • There was a short period during which I was obsessed with lipglosses, but I actually never got around to trying Stila Lipglaze! Now I really have to go try it...

The least sticky gloss I've ever used has got to be Bourjois Eau de Gloss. It's water-based, and it's noticeably less sticky than other glosses I own. It's not my favorite gloss, since stickiness doesn't bother me very much. But it's good.

i also like Estee Lauder's High Gloss and Smashbox's Lip Enhancing Gloss.
  • mtrimier--the mychelle balms are AMAZING. I only have the Guava Orange Vanilla, but it really feels nice and right now I some severe cracked lips becuase it was oh about 20 degrees this weekend in the mountains and I FORGOT my lip balm!
  • I have about a million here's my short list:

ABSOLUTELY DISLIKE: estee lauder (gross gross and sticky), co bigelow (most of theirs are just gross), Chapstick Natural Butters, TOO Faced (gross), Burts Bees lip shimmers (awefull texture)

LOVE: LipSmakers M&M flavor (don't make fun!), Chanel, Kiss my Face, Blistex moisture (stick).

Runner Up Fav: Blixtex Lip infusion (minus the taste)

My FAV: Aroma Prescriptions Holi Roller

Let me ad my ABSOLUTE WORST lip gloss to the list to warn other girls! Fran Wilson I will never forget, her "nourish my lips" LITERALLY gave me rug burn on my lips!!!! I can't believe this stuff can be sold legally. It's texture was hard and rubbed my lips raw.
  • If you're just looking for some shine and you like grape soda, B&BW Liplicious in grape soda is awesome.
  • Ooh! Sounds "delicsh", Purple!
  • I just bought a Lancome lipgloss. It's standard and looks soo pink and nude on me. I had to buy an extra one to give to my sister for her b-day.

Gorgeous shine, gorgeous feeling, but un-gorgeous wallet.
  • lipstick & lipbalms are my crack too.... I swear I have like 6654375986463648589059487574658085764 of them cluttering up my teeny-tiny bathroom.

I tend to prefer the really sticky/tacky thicker glosses- but for smoother/less sticky glosses for you, I'd recommend Maybelline Shiny*licious lip glosses, Sally Hansen's maximum plumping lip treatments (no plump really, but very smooth feeling & smell like mint-chocolate cake!), neutogena's MoistureShine lip soother cooling hydragels- they are VERY sheer however. But they also have spf 20, and (don't laugh)- E.L.F.'s super glossy lip shine spf 15- I know these are cheapies ($1!) but they really are nice glosses! They made a "Paula's Pick" rating on Paula begoun's website. Oh! here's another I just remembered- I only saw them sold at CVS, but they were called "Plump'up Lips" and they looked like some generic copy-cat of those horrifically overpriced (& overhyped) FusionBeauty glosses- the gloss is very smooth feeling and doesn't burn (feels slightly cool). Doesn't plump either, but functions as a very nice gloss with medium shine.

My everyday lip balm I wear under glosses is softlips w/ spf 20.

I love Stila lip glazes too- but hate the price!!
  • Finally I found it....... A friend recently told me about everyday lip gloss. So I went to their site www.everydaylipgloss.com and ordered a few tubes. They have a very cool and touching story, but an even better product. After trying it, I just knew I had to help them spread the word. It is an all natural gloss that is 100% cruelty free. It comes in a neat chap stick like tube so there is no mess applying it. It feels great on my lips and the colors look fantastic. I have been wearing it on its own, but it looks great over my lipstick too.

And by the way, it's only $5.00!! Thank God I no longer need to spend $20-$30 per gloss like I was.
  • I have been using Neutrogena Soothing Lip Sheers which are quite nice though not long-lasting.  You have to get the darker shades for them to stain your lips however.  Same with Burt's Bees... very nice but not long lasting but then this is lip GLOSS.  Oh well!
  • Judy, try that everyday lip gloss. everydaylipgloss.com It is the longest lasting gloss I have ever tried, plus the color will does work
  • MAC Viva Glam VI seems to be the perfect everyday color on light skin with Brown hair and as far as Moisturizing Alba Coconut Cream hands down is the best I have ever used. Aquafina the plain stick one and LUSH Honey Trap are great ones as well.
  • E.L.F. lipglosses last long, aren't sticky, and cost a dollar a pop at Target. Love them!
  • Louis Vuitton cr_p!  Can someone please block this pod person!
  • The Louis Vuitton handbags thing IS all over many of the threads on here isn't it?
  • Yeah, and it's really annoying when "she" (or, more likely, her zombie computer) resurrects old threads for the purpose of spamming...
