In another thread about Sarah, we mentioned that she has a tattoo. Of course, she denies this but I'd deny that tattoo too.
The other day I saw this entry on The Loom about science tattoos. Look at this gallery of tattoos that other scientists get. I think my favorite is the DNA molecule.
I don't have any tattoos but if I did it would be some kind of microscopic animal. I just love microbiology!
Those are very cool tattoos. I have the sign of the cancer on my upper back...not very scientific...but for the past 8 years I have gotten a lot of '...69...' comments. Hrmmm...
One of my friends has a tattoo of Ebola on her back. I have a black ankh that I designed on my right shoulder-blade. Not very scientific, I just love tattoos. I love reading Stephen Jay Gould, Carl Sagan, and Richard Dawkins. If I got a scientifically themed tattoo, it would probably be related to evolution or astrophysics. Cate, I'm a cancer and I avoid wearing anything with the cancer symbol. I used to have a necklace that I'd wear with a cancer charm and I got way too many 69 comments.
MoxieHart: --when my brother got married, I was in the wedding and asked my sister-in-law if she wanted me to cover it up--she said no way, but the groomsman I was walking with and all of my brother's marine corp friends were totally diggin it. I think he was getting irritated by them. I'm use to it now and really don't care what people say anymore :)
If I got a tattoo related to my professional life, I'd probably pick to have a cochlea (the sensory organ for hearing in the inner ear). Most people wouldn't get it, though, They'd just think it was a snail since the cochlea is shaped like one. But my students sure would and they'd probably love it!
Hmm. I should really think about this. Note to self, however: Never say never!!!
