Ceaphil for sensitive skin?
  • OK. I know you have talked about Cetaphil cleanser before, but is it a really good cleanser for sensitive skin? My dematologist suggested it to me but I am hesitant because SLS makes me roscea worse and this has SLS. If not Cetaphil what? THANK YOU! Love the blog!
  • Cetaphil makes me look like an ostrich. I use Aquanil cleanser by person and covey. They have improvised on cetaphil by replacing the lauryl with laureth. Also replaced the propylene glycol with glycerin and no parabens. I also like Cerave cleanser. Of course, My rosacea can't do without the Metro Gel.
  • Cetaphil my not be for everyone but it only has about 1% SLS in it and that shouldn't irritate the skin. However, I guess if someone is particularly sensitive to it they may see a reaction.
  • Sodium Lauryl Sulfate is the most harsh surfactant & nobody uses it anymore. Propylene Glycol is a good humectant but there is a see debate on its usage in sensitive skin care products. Parabens are excellent preservatives but may sensitize sensitive skin.

The point is, Cetaphil may be a fine cleanser but it is definitely not for Sensitive Skin. Rosacea is better off without Cetaphil.
  • mo, then how come all the products i see have SLS? it's laureth though, not lauryl.
  • Hi Alla,

I'm positive that you don't find the lauryl anywhere. I'm fine with laureth, though in winters I switch to even milder surfactants.
