Volumizing Shampoos vs. regular shampoos?
  • Hi!

I've been reading/hearing that shampoos that are marketed as volumizing are more drying to the hair and/or have more surfactants than shampoos *not* marketed as volumizing. Is there any truth to this claim and why would this be?

    Thanks!
  • i think most volumizing hair products (from shampoos, conditioners to styling products) are quite high in pH compared to non-volumizing counterparts because high pH cause the hair to swell so it appears to thicken and definitely adds volume to the hair.
  • Volumizing shampoos aren't more drying they just usually do not contain silicone in them to smooth down the hair shaft. While silicone is great for making hair appear more hydrated, it can be heavy for gals like me with fine hair.
  • didn't BB already teach us this? volumizing shampoos are the same thing as deep cleaning or whatever they are called. they just get rid of the residue better, while moisturizing/nourishing/smoothing shampoos are all the same as well.
