Urea and Glycerin
  • Hi,I am a new member and was so happy to find a site that helps me find out exactly what s in all the stuff I have spent so much money buying and slathering upon myself.
I am curious to know exactly what long term Urea use will do to my face.I use my 20% urea on my face every night and have been doing so for about three months.
I have noticed a difference in my worry lines and the fine lines around my eyes.My questions are;what will this do to the skin on my face in the long term?is it safe to use around my eyes?Is there hormones in it?(i am aware of where it may be derived from, but how would I know if its synthetic?)
If I couple this with glycerin(the label says BP,so I imagine its a by product of something,I know its not vegetable derived)is it dangerous?am I playng mad scientist with the skin on my face?
It feels and looks so good, the pores are finer, lines plumped out but I need to know if I will eventually glow in the dark or thin my skin out beyong repair ?thanks

  • I have psoriasis and have used creams with Urea. However, I feel the ingredient is a bit dated & is no longer the ingredient of choice with ceramides, Ammonium Lactate etc taking the centre stage in dry skin management. I use a Eucerin lotion with Urea & Lactic Acid. It helps with the scaling associated with psoriasis.

However, I would look at other cutting edge products for my face; if its anti aging that's on my mind.
Tazorac, Antioxidants and Sunscreen seem a good bet.
