I just picked up a Face wash with 1% Glycolic Acid thinking it will help me exfoliate the dead skin on my face due to Psoriasis.
It may also help with the acne & Rosacea. Is 1% any good? I'm aware that brands like Aqua Glycolic have 12%.
Also, is Glycolic acid a good choice or Salicylic or Lactic acid or maybe Benzoyl Peroxide face wash works better ?
I think that because of the relatively low percentage and the fact that it's a face wash (and not a leave-on product) it wouldn't be very effective. It sounds like they just added it to make the product sound better. I think the glycolic is probably a good choice but look for a product with a higher percentage maybe in a mask or leave on form.
I have been using Aqua Glycolic fash wash and moisturizer for a while now after being recommended by my dermatologist. Even though the face wash rinses off, it still performs well as an exfoliant. If I use it on dry skin and let it sit while washing my hair, it can feel a bit buring. However, if rinsed immediately, there are no problems. Due to the high percentage of glycolic acid, the manufacturer recomends ramping up the use to decrease sensitivity.
It works well as a shave cream to reduce bumps and ingrown hairs (bikini line) and also performs reasonably well as a makeup remover (except stuborn eyeliner/mascara).
