Hi, I was just wondering if anyone ever experienced jaw and chin acne on just one side of their face? I am 26yrs. old and work out about 3-4days a week. I never had a problem with acne before just since this past October. I was wondering if it might be my IPOD earphones as they rub up against my jaw and chin. It is not only during my period so, I don't think it's hormonal . Also, I get my period regularly. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
A few thoughts--is there any chance it's ingrown hairs related to hair removal along the jawline (which many of us seem to need to do), rather than pimples? If you sleep on that side, you could try changing your pillowcase more often for a little while. I've had pimple issues before that seemed to be helped by changing the pillowcase more often. Any other symptoms like redness or flushing? I ask that because as others here know, I recently got a diagnosis of rosacea (a type of inflammatory skin condition that can lead to bumps that look like pimples as well as other symptoms). It started on only one side of my face. Most common in older adults but sometimes seen in young ones like yourself...
The other question is do you sleep with your hands tucked under your face? This, especially if you use lotions at night, can lead to acne right where your face lays against your hand.
If it's right where your iPod cord rests you might want to try wiping it down with rubbing alcohol or something to clean off oils from your hands. Cause they'd transfer to the cord and then to you.
I was going to say exactly what JamiSings said. I had this problem a while ago with a new hand cream. It was great for my hands, terrible for my jawline and neck.
I was thinking more about that ipod cord earlier today. I actually had this train of thought wondering if there's anything other than rubbing alcohol because I was worried it might dry out the insulation on the cord. Maybe hand sanitizing gel (which does have some alcohol but not as strong as rubbing)...
Thank you all so much for your comments! I really appreciate it. I am trying not to use any earphones while working out for the timebeing.. You are all beautiful and inspiring women :)
my dermatologist says it could be a number of things and started a process of elimination:
1. I work out A LOT - 5 days a week. I need to dab with paper towels and not bring my own. I'm just spreading it around
2. The jaw line tends to be the hormonal area even though the break outs would occur 10 days before my period - he prescribed the pill and in addition I would see him for injections
3. Make sure I do not touch the area or rest my chin in my hand (hands carry lots of germs, even hands you think are clean), keep phones, etc... cleaned as well as pillow cases.
What I learned on my own:
1.I am allergic to mineral make up - THE WORST! Really did a number on my skin. It was a mess for a long time after.
2. Dead Sea Black Mud Soap really helped my skin.
