What works best for aging hands?
  • What skincare regimen have you found works best to improve the look of your hands (in addition to sunscreen of course)? I have recently noticed fine lines and pores on my hands becoming more prominent, with lots of crinkling/loss of elasticity at the wrist. My veins are also much more visible and tend to bulge out now. If anyone has successfully combated these common signs of aging on their hands, please share!
  • I'm betting on sunscreen being it. I recently noticed my driver's side hand is pretty parched, tan and somewhat wrinkly compared to my passenger side hand. I know the window glass blocks "most" of the UV, but it does not block all, and for the past 3 years, I've been in the car an hour a day. So don't forget to use sunscreen for shorter jaunts as well as longer exposures.

Depending on your age, some of it may also be due to hormonal aging which results in thinning and loss of elasticity of the skin. I know there are products like Murad that claim to help hormonally aging skin, but I'm not sure which of them truly work.
  • I saw this post for recommendations for wrinkly hands way back when it was posted and I've been paying close attention because I have always had such old looking hands with a lot of scaliness and wrinkles. I had been having good cosmetic only (just looked better is all) with applying a self tanner mixed with lotion that I applied to tops of my hands and feathered up onto my arms for a natural looking, skin tone. A little color just makes skin look younger. But now I've found something that actually reduced the wrinkles and I am loving this product. I picked up Avalon Vitamin C organic  moisturizing cream because I had heard so many people say it does great things for the face and thought I'd smear it on my hands twice a day as well. I got immediate improvement from the first day and I have to say this is in spite of many daily hand washings, gardening and so on. I would say the wrinkles are reduced by half and I've been using it for maybe 3 weeks. It's not greasy but it does seem to last and it doesn't take much per application at all.
