my skin changes throughout the month. I assume it has to do with hormones / my cycle. Is this common? Also, should i be using different products (cleanser, toner moisturizer) each week of the month to balance that?
Also, does hair have a monthly cycle from hormones?
My skin does as does my scalp...don't know about the hair itself, but my scalp produces more oil the second half of my cycle, and I have to use a clarifying shampoo the last several days before my period. It sort of makes sense, the same hormones that made us oily when they first kicked up at puberty can also increase oiliness at points in the cycle. I remember fondly my pre-pubescent days of less frequent shampooing...Of course, I don't know if there's any rule that you have to use different products premenstrually, but if you find your regular products don't work before your period (shampoo in my case), experimenting with others is a good idea. My skin is oilier than usual but I get by with my regular products at "that time." Others may have specific suggestions that have worked for them.
