Hello,
I don't use these products however I'd like to suggest a styling gel from Deva called Arc Angell. I have naturally curly hair and have never been able to grow it long because it would never stay healthy and unfrizzy. Last year I started using this product and it is the BEST I've ever used on my hair. I have been able to grow it past my shoulders and it always looks great. This gel controls frizz and amazingly defines curls. I purchase mine from Ebay at a discount. A bottle lasts a long time, you really don't need much. I have never been one to recommend hair products but this one has been a lifesaver. Good luck!
I'm still curious ... An awful lot of the people who say this is great for curly hair seem to mean that it's great for "fixing" curly hair, in other words, straightening it either with a flatiron or a blow dryer. They love it because they can iron their hair and blow dry it straight, and it will stay that way. What they don't say is that this stuff does anything positive for their curly hair when it's left curly.
For me, my hair is very thick and long, I don't iron or blow-dry it straight, and I don't live in a humid area -- so the stuff just doesn't seem to do anything that I'd need it to do. It seems to work great for people who complain that silicones weight their hair down, which is exactly what I want them to do. :-)
I'm still on the sidelines on this one as a result, and my hair's pretty thick and wavy-curly.
I use No Frizz to 'scrunch' my hair. I don't ever blow dry it and only straighten it on days that I don't wash it. It does an AMAZING job of coating my waves and leaving it completely frizz free. It's worth a shot. Sephora might give you a free sample or you could get the smaller bottle. It's still pricey at $14 but the small bottle has lasted me months (I have short hair though).
