What Beauty Products of the Future Do You Want?

There’s an interesting discussion started by JamiSings in the Beauty Brains forum about beauty products people wish existed but don’t. Do you have other ideas of products you wished existed? Leave a comment below. Here are a few examples of what forum members have come up with so far.trust-the-future

Beauty Products of the Future?

1. Permanent, targeted hair removal
2. Cheap lotion that gets rid of stretch marks
3. Tools you can use yourself to remove ‘bacne’
4. Vacuum to clean pores and remove ingrown hairs
5. Skin pills to treat skin conditions like eczema & rosacea
6. No more skin creams! Just cleaners and pills
7. Diet pill with no side effects
8. Sunscreen that didn’t have to be reapplied
9. Pill to stop hair from growing once it gets to the right length
10. Cream that stops kids fingernails from growing
11. Product that removes cowlicks
12. Pills that give a ‘fake tan’
13. Longer lasting, better mascara
14. Chip-proof nail polish
15. Home hair color that actually improves hair’s condition

We have a number of cosmetic chemists who read the Beauty Brains and this might inspire them to get started inventing one of these products. Leave a comment below and add your idea for a beauty product of the future.

I’d like to see more products that contain sunscreen that men would use, geared toward people who work outside. After shave balm w/ a high SPF and a hair product that would protect the scalp from the sun (for people w/thinning hair.)

Perhaps some type of miracle shampoo and conditioner or product that makes it very easy to go from straight hair to super curly or wavy hair and vice-versa. A pill that promotes eyelash/hair growth that actually works.

a hair protectant that actually works.

and a better way to get clear skin. I actually have had more success with out washing and doing stuff to my face everyday. i only wash with water. but i want to wear spf now and it makes me break out again. so now i can decide if i’d rather have the possibilty of skin cancer later, or to continue the acne that i’ve had for 12 years.

Number 12 is sort of a reality already. There are two drugs (which I don’t think are chemically related despite the related names), Melanotan and Melanotan II.

I say “sort of a reality” because they’re not FDA approved and not available in the US. Supposedly you can buy them over the internet, but that doesn’t sound very safe to me.

I think it is Clinique that has an ad showing an eraser, implying that their product ‘erases’ the years, wrinkles, spots, whatever.

I want that in an actual eraser. Just erase the spots away, literally. Think of it: futuristic perfection, but total retro packaging!

On Demand hair styles/colour would be nice too.

I’ve not heard of these. Thanks. I’ll have to investigate.

Palmers cocoa butter with vitamin e lotion is good for stretch marks, I bought the stuff at the dollar store.

I would like someone to develop a paint-on tooth whitener – like nail polish for your teeth, but permanent.

I read this awesome science fiction book from the seventies called Woman on the Edge of Time that had some cool cosmetic ideas. One was a way to change your hair color via changes in your diet and nutrients. Another were outfits called Flimsies that were created for special occassions and were beautiful and elaborate but completely biodegradable.
Personally, as someone who chooses to be porcelain pale, I’d love some form of sunblock that didn’t require reapplying.

Thee is a hair colors that leave your hair in better condition, they are called H2O Colours and I have been using them for 5 years. They can only go darker or tone your hair though, not lighten it..
I would love something to stop facial hair growing, laser is alright if your hair is dark, but no good for fair hair.

This may be something for the chemists and nanotechnologists to consider: please develop a foundation which comes in tiny “sheets” (similar to the Listerine mouth fresheners)! The user would simply place one or more of these small sheets on her face; the skin’s warmth would cause the sheet(s) to diffuse onto the skin, covering a predetermined surface area…no rubbing, blending, touching required!! Much more hygienic and “green” (no rubber sponges or brushes needed for application).

Repair split ends, for real, permanently.

thebeautybrains June 1, 2009 at 12:35 pm

Well, we can do that already….a haircut! lol

I’ve tried Palmers for my stretch marks, didn’t do diddly squat. I want something that removes them completely, not just fades them. (And the Palmers didn’t even do that.)

I’d love to have a cream that perfects skin completely… that is, covers all your bases. It would get rid of enlarged pores, broken capillaries, uneven skin tone, aging, acne, dark circles — basically a cure-all cream. I’d also like a conditioner that will actually repair split ends and hair damage, rather than just coating it. I am with anyone who said targeted and permanent INEXPENSIVE hair remover.

MoxieHart June 2, 2009 at 9:27 am

@ Olga: I think that Cargo has something similar to that for lipstick and nail polish. They’re on a cardboard backing and you just peel the plastic protective sheet off and press them on.

I want to add something to the bacne removal. As I’m currently breaking out not just on my face, but also my neck, chest, and back, I’d really like a tool meant for the extraction of pus from a pimple in areas such as the neck and breasts. Especially for hard to extract areas like right below the ears and near the nipples.

I’ve tried all sorts of prescription medicines and over the counter treatments and none of them work. Squeezing is the only thing that helps. So anything that could extract all the pus, including the “core” without too much fuss would be SO welcome!

I don’t mind reapplying sunscreen, I just want something that is quick to put on, doesn’t smell at all, and isn’t greasy.
most sunscreens have that smell which competes with any perfume I choose to wear, and most are really greasy, making me not want to put it on at all.

Maybe something stronger. I’d rather not have to apply a super thick layer to get all the protection it promises.

and definately cheaper. If everyone should be using it, it should be inexpensive.

-An affordable product that eliminates red skin on the face.

-A better way to control/eliminate oily skin. The longest time a product has kept the shine in check for me is 3 hours.

-More lotions with sunscreen that are affordable. Preferably a self-tanner/sunscreen combo. Jergens makes a great face self-tanner with sunscreen, but they charge alot of money for a SMALL tube!

-I agree with the other posters who want better coverage for face (cream or makeup), and maybe a new easier way to apply it.

-I also agree that we need better hair products that actually do what they claim but don’t leave your hair greasy or weighed down. I would like a product that took out the frizz and waves and made it straight.

I want a lipstick that lasts all day through eating and drinking that DOESN’T HURT. The existing ones (like Cover Girl) that you paint on and then repeatedly apply gloss over all day are painful, and I can’t *wait* to get home to remove them. And when the gloss is off, my lips are matte and ugly. I want something that stays on COMFORTABLY and looks pretty when the gloss wears off. Wait; let me restate (since we’re asking for the moon here): I want a lipstick which remains comfortable, pretty, and shiny all day! And it doesn’t leave my lips parched and sore for the next two days!

Something else: the greatest beauty invention of the last decade has been the BiorĂ© Pore Strip. Well, I want it taken further. I want strips which don’t merely cover my nose, but which extend outward onto my cheeks, and which grip even tighter. I want incremental advances in the BiorĂ© Pore Strip. Let’s make something wonderful terrificker! Then life will be grand, what with clean pores and semi-permanent, comfortable lipstick!
