Health & Beauty Dead Sea Muscle Relaxant Aromatic Butter is a top beauty product seller on Amazon this week. Let’s look at the label to see how it relaxes muscles.
Looking at the product claims, it appears to be an over the counter drug since it aids with:
- Muscle cramps
- Headaches
- Shoulders, back pain,
- Releases neck muscles
- Hips, stretching, sprains
- Joint discomfort,
- Efficient with physiotherapy and improves blood stream
Given these claims I fully expected to find that the product contained methyl salicylate. Instead, I found only the following ingredients disclosed:
Tea tree oil, eucalyptus, pepper oil, camphor and lavender oils, olive oil, almond oil, vitamin E and Dead Sea minerals.
Obviously there must be other ingredients because you can’t make a “butter” with just an olive oil base. But it does contain pepper oil (aka capsaicin) which is an approved Over the Counter active drug ingredient, provided it’s used at 1%. So even though this product may indeed work as promised I’m still skeptical because the company does not label it properly for an OTC drug. There’s no disclosure of the active ingredient, no warning statement and apparently no expiration date. If they’re not disclosing this information, what else could they be hiding from us?
