am a huge fan of Vaseline Intensive Care Aloe Fresh lotion. I like it
because one pump is enough to cover the lower half of my leg, it rubs
in quickly and easily, it is the best lotion I’ve found yet to use
right after I shave (to relieve razor burn and irritation), and, most
importantly, it dries very quickly compared to other lotions so it
isn’t too sticky to put on pants when I don’t have time to walk
around in underwear for a half hour.At
the moment I am on a tight budget and my current bottle of Vaseline
Aloe is going to run out pretty soon. Vaseline Aloe is a cheap
lotion, $3.49 for 10 oz at Target. However, I have found another aloe
lotion that is even cheaper: Perfect Purity. I came across this
lotion at the, um… store where everything is under a dollar. I’m
pretty wary of buying any sort of beauty products there, even if I’m
itching to try them. They also have these makeup lines called
Colormates, L.A. Colors, and Aziza, that look really interesting.
But, I’m pretty sure this store doesn’t have the stellar return
policies that other mass-market stores have on beauty products.So
I’m wondering, based on the ingredients below, can you tell me if the
Perfect Purity will perform as well as my beloved Vaseline? Or should
I just bite the bullet and save my dollars for a big bottle of the
Vaseline Aloe fresh?To
me, the ingredients lists of these two products look really
different. Vaseline’s has “micro-droplets” of vaseline jelly,
while Perfect Purity seems to have more actual aloe…I think.I

The Vaseline product contains 4 key moisturizers:Glycerin, mineral oil, dimethicone, and petrolatum.Perfect Purity contains 1:Mineral oil.I have know doubt the Vaseline product will do a better job moisturizing. The amount of aloe in either formula is pretty much irrelevant. For what it’s worth the Vaseline also has a better balanced emulsion system.I hope this helps.PS This would make a great question for our podcast. thank you for answering my question. I think it’s a smart move to stick with my Vaseline Aloe. I have one more aloe lotion to throw into the mix. It’s another one that can be found at dollar stores and it’s called Dermasil. I couldn’t find much in the way of reviews for Dermasil Aloe but the Dermasil original formula has really good reviews on makeupalley. There was one woman who was a bit freaked out about some ingredients in that one that, according to her, were apparently banned in the EU. But I do have the ingredients for the aloe version:Dermasil Aloe Fresh lotion:Water, glycerin, Petrolatum, Mineral Oil, Stearic Acid, Dimethicone,, Glycol Stearate, Glyceryl Stearate, Peg-40 stearate, Cetyl alcohol, Cetyl Acetate, sodium hydroxide, fragrance, dimethicone, phenoxyethanol, carbomer, Helianthus Annus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, disodium edta, Acetylated Lanolin, methylisothiazolinone, iodopropynyl butylcarbamate, magnesium aluminum silicate, lecithin, Borago Officinalis Seed Oil, Cholesterol, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Prunus Amygoalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Ethylene Brassylate, Santalium Album (Sandalwood) Oil, Rosa Damascena Extract, Vanilla Planifolia Fruit Extract, Stearmide Amp, Disodium Edta, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Dmdm Hydantoin, and other Ingredients. Helianthus Annus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, GlycerinI’m a tad bit suspicious because I took a photo of the ingredients on the aloe bottle, but the above list is what I copy-pasted from their original version on their website and I just double checked to make sure that I included or removed the ingredients that didn’t match.the aloe. The ingredients for both are virtually the same but they are listed in completely different orders (at least from the first five down). Also, I don’t see aloe listed here. Unless of course it’s under some name I don’t recognize (I thought it was Aloe Barbadensis?) and I don’t know what Borago Officinalis Seed Oil is.What do you think of this? It seems to have all four moisturizers you listed in Vaseline.I would be happy to make a voice recording of the question for your podcast. Just tell me how you would like me to put it. Give me a time limit for how long you want the recorded question to be and I can fashion something within that limit.Thank you!If you’re asking if this looks like an effective lotion I would say yes based on the inclusion of petrolatum, mineral oil, dimethicone. It doesn’t appear to contain any aloe but that’s fine since aloe doesn’t do much for skin at low levels any way.
Borage oil is the rich in essential fatty acids for skin (assuming they put enough in the formula which most companies do not.)Thanks for the offer to record an audio version of your question.
