I frequently see the claim that apple cider vinegar clarifies hair. Many blogs and boards suggest using it in place of shampoos that have sulfates. Is this correct. Will it wash of silicones and such?
Vinegar (acetic acid, that is) can dissolve dulling mineral build up to “clarify” hair. It does have the ability to remove silicones or styling residue. (In fact, to remove styling polymers it’s better to have a high pH, not a low pH.)
