MemberHi Randy! I was wondering, can non Rx brow and lash growth serums actually promote growth? I am hesitant about using Latisse or generic bimaprost. It’s expensive and it has the potential for both irritation and darkening of the eyelid and iris. Most OTC serums seem like clear mascara with some moisturizing ingredients, peptides, and exotic sounding extracts thrown in. I use Rimmel Lash Accelerator Serum. Although it doesn’t contain any kind of active ingredients, it does make my lashes and brows look shiny and feel strong at an affordable price. I’ve read that synthetic prostaglandins can actually promote growth. Revitalash and Revitabrow contains Dihydroxy Difluoro Ethylcloprostenolamide and both are available for around $98. Apparently it’s comparable to Latisse but without the irritation and other negative side effects. Rapidlash is readily available at drugstores for around $50 and it contains Hydrolyzed Glycosaminoglycans, which sounds good but I’m not sure if it actually does anything. Grandelash MD is around $65 and it also contains Glycosaminoglycans. Revitalash seems promising, but what do you think about these serums?

MemberI haven’t seen data showing that these other active ingredients really work (or that they work without side effects) so I’m very skeptical.

MemberI have used the Rimmel Lash Accelerator Serum as well. The “actives” in it seem to be the peptides. The serum has really helped restore bald patches in my eyebrows where the was once hair but remained bare for years from over plucking. However, it has done nothing for my eyelashes. The serum seems to work well to restore hair but doesn’t do much for creating new hair growth.
