I found a sunscreen face lotion product, which looks good. I mean it has a relatively low price ($13) and contains good sunscreen ingredients. What do you think?Active Ingredients:

the concentration of Actives is tiny.
I am shocked how easy it is to get SPF30 in USA. That would not even get SPF15 here in Australia.
I would not use this based on the UV activity where I live.
Concentrations of titanium dioxide and zinc oxide doesn’t tell you very much about the SPF level. Other ingredients can boost the SPF level, like film formers or certain coatings. For example Butyloctyl Salicylate and Polymethyl Methacrylate are such ingredients, and copolymers to get an even layer of sunscreen on the skin as well. The spf testings are not that different around the world, so probably the SPF will also be 30 in Australia.I don’t like Retinyl Palmitate in a sunscreen. Benzyl Alcohol is a fragrance. And Methylisothiazolinone is a somewhat more problematic preservative. The product probably does use nano particles considering there are some common coating ingredients, Alumina and Triethoxycaprylylsilane for example.It does contain Niacinamide, Ceramides, Vitamin C, Licorice, Bisabolol and Oat extracts which is good. So on the whole a reasonable good sunscreen, if it has a pleasant texture.what about this sunscreen?

I don’t know about the texture and how it feels, but the ingredients look good. You don’t have the nice actives like the Cerave one, but probably this one will give a better UVA coverage. It does have a small amount of alcohol, so you need to try it to see if it is drying to your face.It contains very good stable sunscreen agents:- Tinosorb S (BIS-Ethylexyloxyphenol Methoxyphenyl Triazine)

@Peter I have compiled all the mineral sunscreen list of every product available in Australia. I know the average and lowest active ingredients.
Fact: none of our Australian certified SPF30 sunscreen has as little Actives as the product shared.
I agree that sunscreen is not just based on the actives, there are other variables that can enhance sunscreen properties like I have referenced several journals in reddit /r/sunblock.
In this case 7% mineral Actives is definitely not going to pass our TGA test.
Mineral Actives like Zinc & titanium dioxide is different from chemical sunscreen. They are harder to use too but generally better fit sensitive skin types. My current spf50+ has 27% Zinc Oxide. Many SPF30 have 20-25% Zinc Oxide in Australia
@Peter I like the LRP sunscreen you recommended, I used something like that for 2-3 years before switching to my dermatologist’s private label sunscreen. Good recommendation
Not perfect it has avobenzone I would not use it personally.
i suggest you try the BASF Sunscreen Calculator where you input your actives and calculate the SPF / PPD ratings.

Australia TGA certified SPF30 had 18% or more active ingredients, more than double the quantity in Cerave’s SPF30 (USA FDA certified) sunscreen.I had never seen anything rated SPF30 with only Titanium Dioxide 3.67% (Sunscreen), Zinc Oxide 3.5% (Sunscreen)the recommended concentration for chemical sunscreen on the other hand is quite different. That’s @Peter specialty. I only know mineral sunscreens

It’s just a theoretical calculation.Coola has 3.2% Titanium Dioxide and 1.8% Zinc Oxide, but it’s also rated at SPF30. It all depends on other non-sunscreen ingredients in the formula. If I take 13% Zinc Oxide for the Paula Resist suncreen (Z-Cote HP1, this is the form Paula uses). You get an SPF8, while Paula’s product has been rated at SPF30.Coola, Paula Choice are not Australian @Peter

how about if i use avobenzone in my day cream,,,,,then apply another separate sunscreen with octinoxate. will that degrade the avobenzone still?
